philippians 4 8 official verse of hannah e griggs . com

Welcome to More Than Just Reading Press, the official website for author Hannah E Griggs! Here you will find posts primarily about reading and writing. You will also find behind the scenes information about my books!

The Bible verse I’ve chosen for the theme of this website is Philippians 4:8. Every aspect of our life should align with this list of things that we are to think about. If we are engaged in activities that do not fit this criteria, if they are not pure, honest, or any of the other things, then we are also not thinking the right kind of thoughts.

As an avid reader and writer, this verse is how I evaluate my choices of reading material, both what I read, write, and recommend for others. Philippians 4:8 will be reflected in the posts I write and share here.

“Visit many good books,

but live in the Bible.”

C. H. Spurgeon

Posts under the Reading Category include book reviews, creative reading tips, author recommendations, and more. I’m passionate about reading, and love encouraging other Christian young ladies to make good use of their precious reading time by choosing to read the best books.

“These [the Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 What we read and learn should be weighed against the Bible, with the Bible being our ultimate Authority.

“If you want to change the world,

pick up your pen and write.”

Martin Luther

Writing is a wonderful gift from God, and if you are a young Christian writer, be sure to check out the posts in the Writing Category. There you will find posts with some of the various writing tips I’ve learned in the writing classes I’ve taken, reasons why we should write the stories God lays on our hearts, and the importance of teaching Biblical lessons and telling Christ-honoring stories through our writing.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 Our writing should be done primarily to glorify God. If God has given us a story, we should write it for Him, and tell it as He would have us to do it, realizing that all the glory for whatever it accomplishes goes to Him.

About Hannah E Griggs’ Writing

Following the example of the Master Storyteller, Jesus, I strive to tell stories that teach Biblical principles. Besides in my e-books and physical books, you can also find my stories in the Grace Reid Stories Category. There you can read stories about Grace Reid, a typical homeschool girl, and her family.

  • The New Girl (Hope helps Grace overcome shyness to make a new girl feel welcome.)
  • Rabbits, Sparrows, & Mexico (The Reids learn to trust the One Who cares for sparrows, while they are going through a difficult time.)
  • Dirty Face (Joseph’s forgetfulness reminds Grace that she needs God’s help to overcome the areas she struggles with.)
