There are several different themes that I wove into Remember My Royalty. The title is a blending of two different sayings: “Remember the Alamo!” and “My Race is Royal,” the motto of Clan MacGregor. The MacGregor motto plays an important part in the story as the three McGregor siblings strive to remember the name that they bear.
Ealasaid, the only Christian in her family, must also remember a far more royal name that she holds, that of daughter of the King. She wonders how an invalid can show the name that she bears when there is so little that she can do. And she always feels as though there is something that she ought to be doing for God.
The one thing that she knows she ought to be doing for God is the one thing that she shrinks from. She fears it more than she fears Texas storms, war, and the dangers of pioneer life.

Going hand in hand with remembering who we are in Christ and living accordingly is the theme of abiding in Christ. The characters learn that on their own, they will fail miserably at living the Christian life, but with Christ living in and through them, they can be victorious.
As per the usual in my books, there are also themes of salvation, but I can’t go into too much detail on that without spoiling some things. And other themes that appear in varying amounts are humility, forgiveness, and trust.
As you can probably tell, Remember My Royalty does not shy away from Christian teaching. In fact, some would call this book preachy, so if you enjoy “preachy” stories as I do, then consider giving it a try. It’s still available at the special pre-order price.
